Stepping Into Spring

After the long run of terrible weather in London, it seemed like Spring would never arrive but it's slowly settling in with the temperatures rising and the days getting longer. It's still too cold for bare legs and to forego at least a light coat/jacket, so I'm planning my Spring wardrobe around brighter colours and lighter layers. This MM6 Maison Margiela coat is the perfect Spring coat: it's lighter than my Winter coats but still keeps me warm on chilly Spring days, and its light grey shade fits right in with the Spring pastel colour palette. The boxy fit and single breasted style make it look like an oversized coat version of a blazer, which is right up my alley.

However, the best thing about the coat is that I found it in TK Maxx for £150, reduced from £500! TK Maxx is usually hit or miss for me (more often miss than hit) but on one day when I was randomly browsing in there, I stumbled upon this coat. I've actually seen it online before but its original price tag was way out of my budget, so I couldn't believe it when I saw it in TK Maxx of all places. My sister also found a gorgeous All Saints denim shirt with a hefty 75% discount. It depends on your luck when you go there because sometimes the stock is good and other times it's not, so it's best to go in with low expectations. A tip is look at the gold label section because that's where they normally display pieces from more premium brands (that's where I found the coat). I couldn't find it on TK Maxx's website but Yoox is currently selling the exact same one for £184. I've also linked a high street alternative below.

In line with my plan to wear brighter colours this Spring, I paired the coat with a pink and white striped top, and light wash jeans, both of which are from & Other Stories, one of my favourite places to shop at. It's slightly more expensive than other high street brands like Topshop and Zara, but it has a good mix of classic and trendy styles, and the quality is generally better. Colourful/rainbow stripes are on trend and all over the high street. I've always had a (not so slight) obsession with striped clothes, especially tops, so I obviously couldn't resist this trend and the & Other Stories top is one of several that I've picked up for Spring. Since the clothes were in lighter shades, I stuck to simple accessories in darker colours. Lastly, some exciting news: Céline has finally launched their online store! You can now browse their pieces online, which is more convenient than having to physically go into their stores.
