How to Style Denim Skirts: Look 1

The second part of the How to Style series is all about denim skirts. I wear denim shorts 24/7 in the Summer, so denim skirts are a welcome addition to my wardrobe because they give some much-needed variation to my outfits. They're slightly dressier than denim shorts while still maintaining the casual vibe of denim shorts. Unlike denim shorts which are inherently casual, denim skirts are easier to dress up or down because they actually look suitable either way. This time, there will be four looks (two casual and two dressy) and I'll start off with the casual ones.

The first casual look features a blue A-line denim skirt with big silver buttons down the middle, which add an element of interest to an otherwise plain denim skirt. I paired it with a gingham cold shoulder top with bows at the cuffs (how sweet are those?). Gingham is all the rage this season and I think the black and white checked print goes well with blue denim. I rarely wear sleeveless tops because my arms are the least favourite part of my body, so cold shoulder tops are ideal because they show some skin without exposing my entire arms. As for accessories, I went for a pair of oversized aviator sunglasses, a bucket bag and a pair of strappy sandals.
